Bob McGrath is celebrating his 90th birthday this week! McGrath is best known for playing an original human character Bob Johnson from1969–2016 on the long running educational television series Sesame Street. He returned for Sesame Street’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in 2019.

McGrath originally did not want to audition for the role, but a friend changed his mind. His character “Bob Johnson,” was one of only four ‘live’ actors — Gordon , Bob, Susan and Mr. Hooper — who mingled with the likes of Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird, Cookie Monster.
